When someone performs a Google search for a particular word, phrase or question, the result is thousands of sites that contain those words in them. What typically happens is that users will only see the first page of results, even only the first page, and will only click on the first few links that appear. Your Search Rank is then the number in the list of search results in which your site appears.

This search ranking depends on which keywords are entered in the search box. When you optimize your site around a particular keyword, it will go up on the list and appear on the first page of results. This is what is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

How to Increase the Ranking

1. The title of your page must contain the keywords.

2. Place keywords in meta tags.

3. Write keywords in the titles of your posts and highlight them in bold when they appear in the body of the post.

4. Use the image tags and add lists to your posts.

5. Submit the sitemap of your site to Google Webmaster tools.

6. Ping all search engines after posting a post.

7. Validate the code of your site for XHTML and CSS.

8. Make your site faster to load by reducing the number of posts on the homepage.
